When I bought my truck (Xterra, has a supercharger) in 2004 gas prices were up there, but not so much that I thought the premium for paying for premium exceeded that which I was paying to maintain my previous vehicle to keep it on the road (VW Passat - it was a total lemon costing me several $$thousands every year just to keep it going).

Nowadays, not so much. $1.30 hurts and when regular hits $1.30 I'll be at $1.40.

Like BMWRider, I can't wait for this snow and cold to go away so I can start riding MY bike. Except mine has pedals instead of an engine so I get about "infinity" mpg. Just takes a little longer sometimes to get from point A to point B.

I'll bet there's still some sort of gas involved though Tony.

I'm in the trucking industry. Those high gas prices are going to drive everything up. I hear corn growers are getting more for there crops selling them to bio-diesel producers then selling them for consumption. Trucking companies fuel surcharges go up with the increases of gas. The price of trucking the products goes up. Which makes those products prices go up and so on and so on. YA

And some of the businesses are adding fuel surcharges above and beyond what the trucking companies are charging them. Also, they don't seem to lower or remove them when the price of fuel goes back down, like last fall.

Its funny, we talk about taxes and all on the gas, what about the profits that the oil companies make?? I know its not illegal to Make A Profit, But Look at Exxon, Last year, first quarter $11.7 BILLION dollars in profit. I think they could afford to make a little less a litre to help the ecconomy, dont ya think?

I just wish eco friendly cars were cheaper or the government offered more rebates to go green. I would love to buy an eco friendly car, but at 40K+ to start it really makes you go Hmmm.

Gas prices out of control and personally I don't think it's going ot end unless something drastically changes. There has been no adjustement made to the daily production to compensate for China's increased consumption by OPEC, plus you have the president of Iran saying oil in undervalued.

This is just my opinion (obviously) but it looks like a strategic attack on the US, I mean the dollar us HURTING now, everyone dislikes Bush, the war is massivlely hated they see weakness and are trying a different approach.

The greedy Banks that KNEW they were hustling people into ****** loans that will eventually screw the borrower over are a big part of the currrent US economic crisis. The need to grab every cent from consumers just got outta control. And now Walmart is limiting rice purchases!!

And why am I so upset about all this, well I was planning on purchasing a Shelby GT500 this year but maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan does the cost of ownership go up when you factor in Supreme fuel at prolly 5+ dollars a gallon!

I hope this saltwater burning/cancer curing/ machine works!

Im watching companies like http://www.lightningcarcompany.com/ and http://www.teslamotors.com/ with keen interest these days.
It may take some time but eventually change will come.
