It's a nice little device for smaller tanks, but it does indeed gum up if you're not careful and you cannot take it apart to clean it.
Getting the hose clamps on tight enough to stop leaks was also a bit annoying (I really wished they went with threaded or some other type of connectors). Lastly, be aware that it will cut down on your pump's head pressure by a noticeable amount. Melev has a nice write up on his site about it being used as part of a closed-loop. |

There are some very cool, "relatively simple", mods out there to make it easier to plumb them, increase flow through them and make them easier to clean.
The original Mod http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/inde...ST&f=9&t=76847 An extremely simple Mod http://www.reefs.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=108467 A more complex Mod http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...hreadid=843091 A SCWD Mod for the larger tanks http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...5&pagenumber=1 I'm thinking of trying one of these in the near future.
