Sump/fuge design

Gotcha on the egg-crate, thats a good idea. Does the chaeto/macro algae just "float " in the fuge? I've never had one so I'm just curious.
I'm going to probably end up doing a very similar design with my sump when I re-do it.
The only other thing I'd watch is to make sure you have enough volume in that return section for evap/drainage when the return pump is shut down. You've probably accounted for this but I figured it was worth metnioning.
Where did you end up getting the skimmer from ?
