Default Yeah i don't want to infect my new fish.

Yeah im putting the new fish in a third tank that has been dry for months and not introducing him to the main display tank for 6 weeks, i also have the temp on the display tank at 83 to speed up the life cycle. A question though, now that i don't have any fish in my second tank, if i empty and dry it how long will ich remain on the sides and bottom of a dry tank? It's not 6 weeks for a dry tank is it? Can ich stay alive out of water, and if so how long?
Thanks
Cam
