hey....
Should be under the water line couple of inches or so. Each person is a little different. This will cut down on the splashing and salt creep or Use a filter sock above water line.....and cut out all the micro bubbles.........  http://www.canreef.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=17163 Good luck
