are you just looking for it to drink by its self or with a meal, or with a snack. also it depends on the type of food its self. I like several white wines myself like a Chablis on a hot afternoon with a little fruit, but I would never drink Chablis with a meal as it would be way over powered.

Also do you like a touch of sweet? if so then you can look at a nice Riesling or Gewürztraminer.

but as for saying get this or that wine it is hard because even in one type of wine the flavor will vary with different wineries and years. best bet is to go to a good liquor store that has a wine specialist on hand and get him to recommend a few lower priced bottles (10.00ish), try a couple one weekend a couple the next and so on until you find what you like. then you can try different wineries in that selection until you find a winery you like then try some of there better wines.
