1st let me say that All dry chemicals should be air tight at all times.
If you mixed both magnesium in a jug of RO water and is evaporating due to air leek you will have crystals forming.
and I only recommend mixing the dry chemicals as needed only prior to adding water.
An example from my experience I mix my chemical according to the recipe on the webpage in a pail that is shut air tight with only 1/4" hole for the draw of the pump then to the tank with no problems or crystallizing at all.
