Huh Ask for the name of the person on the policy she wants to talk to. If you are the only name on the policy this is very bizarre. If it is a joint policy the company could legitimately need both policy holders? consent. I recently needed a letter signed by my wife to be faxed to our insurance company before they would cancel the policy on a car we sold.

The trick to making progress is to find out exactly what they need. If they need written consent from all individuals on the policy and they understand you are the only person on the policy they should deal with you.

Insurance company complaints can be sent to the Insurance Bureau of Canada.

Here's a link that has the provincial bodies that handle different types of complaints.

The insurance links are near the bottom.
