The lymphatic system is used to flush toxins out of certain areas of the body; its like a second circulatory system, just that it flows primarily through passive means (valves, pressure from flexing muscles). If lymphatic circulation is impaired, toxins can and do build up in the tissues. And toxins are linked to cancer.
I'd like to see the paper that claims to disprove that study, rather than just a smug statement.
