PM Folder Question

I want to clean out my PM Inbox and Sent Items folders, but only some of them. Some I want to keep.
The old system had a "delete selected items" feature.
I don't see that in the new system.
Each message has a check box beside it, but I don't see were it says "delete selected items". I clicked on "Empty Folder" and everything from my Inbox vanished, selected or not. I don't want to make the same mistake with the Sent Items folder.
How does one go about deleting only selected (checkboxed) PM's?
