Generally ball valves work better in the long term then gate valves in saltwater from what I have heard. I personally have not used gate valves so I really base this on hear say...thats my disclaimer.
Dave Edit: Those J & L bulkheads do look good anyone have them? I like the feature you need less wall space behind your tank for them.
