nitrates are solutes (in other words, they are in the water, not in the rock)
Unless there's a ton of decomposing debris in the LR and sand... I don't think they are the 'source' typical source of nitrates is high bioload... having lots of fish that requires lots of feeding... and not balanced by enough water changes. Last edited by Reef_Geek; 12-28-2013 at 02:33 AM.
