I had a fairly big one in my red sea max 34 gallon (5incher or so)and i must say, they are so gentle...they did not knock over my frags...however, once alage is gone, you might have to pass it on thinking the problem is solved but the algae will return in a few weeks. I think big ones are needed so their mouths can gobble up the bigger tuffs of hair algae. Ultimately, One has to address the root cause of the alage problem being phospahtes or whatever.
Would be nice if canreefers would share one or two between tanks. I now have a urchin and all it does is eat corraline algae, knock, over frags, and eat my nice red macro algaes.
i might also conside a lettuce nudi in the future....Not sure if that is a beter choice.
