I used to have a septic tank for 30 yrs.
I would consider not putting any water into the tank that is not needed. The septic tank is healthier with the least amount of water possible passing through it. Bacteria in the tank break down products and the more bacteria there is, the more efficient your tank becomes. Adding water dilutes this process. Less bacteria per unit of effluent.
