Mine is an A. nigricans for sure. I e-mailed Allen at J&L, they will give me a fish and shipping credit if it dies since they sent me the wrong one.
I read the wetwebmedia article on powder browns and they lean pretty heavily to the A. japonicus saying that the A nigricans is much harder to keep and usually dies. What do you feed him Reef_Raf?
