Hi,
They are okay and they are quite a bit quieter than a Mag, but they are not silent. And, yes they are salt water compatible -- except for the screws that hold down the impeller cover (just like the Mag). They are a close relative to the Sen pump family and the Dolphin DP family. - Victor.
