Red Cyano Bacteria

There are as many reasons given for cyano as there are cures. A number of purists would throw up their hands in horror, but when I get it, I use Chemipure. It gets rid of it in 48 hours or less, and has no bad effects.

As well, I have noticed that I have quite a bit of red stuff growing a couple cm under the sand along the front side of the glass. Should I dig it up and try to remove it, or should I just leave it.

I would be inclined not to worry about that. It is common, and no cause for worry. If you look at Shimek's sandbed FAQ, he talks about that.
