FWIW, we have mature elms and conifers lining our street. A couple of times a day there is a group of chickadees and nuthatches that come through looking for food. Haven't seen any squirrels all winter, but in summer there are a few around. Even saw a chipmunk on my way to the 4 minute-away store one time
The most interesting wild thing happening right now is a magpie breaking twigs off the elm near our balcony. Must be fixing up a nest that's nearby. Very funny to watch the bird with a twig in its beak trying to get it free of the twigs still on the tree
Of course, being downtown, there are numerous cart pushing people who collect bottles from dumpsters. Many of them could be homeless. Very sad to see them
