Default Crosshatch trigger and cleaner shrimp. Or Neon Gobies. ??

Think I know the answer to this before I even ask but I'm gonna ask anyhow.

Can you have cleaner shrimp in with a crosshatch trigger?

Or what about neon gobies?

I'm in slightly advantageous position since the trigger is not yet moved over to the tank in question so can easily go well after the others are established. I could see adding the shrimp or the gobies after the trigger is already in there would be something of a doomed exercise.

You should see my niger trigger with "his" cleaner shrimp. I put the shrimp 2 days ago and he does not leave that shrimp alone. He's there constantly to get cleaned. It's so cute, the shrimp hop on the fish and clean it both side. While at it, my niger trigger remain perfectly still and really enjoy it.

when the shrimp has enough, the trigger return to his usual spot but after 10 minutes he's back to see the cleaner again. he open his mouth wide (so cute) and the shrimp get to clean his teeth.

I cannot speak for other trigger but mine surely loves his shrimp and not as a dinner. I doubt he'll ever eat that shrimp. I added the shrimp about one month after the trigger was added.

I would not try cleaner goby though.

I think your fine i had shrimp in with my blue jaw triggers and mystery wrasse. The shrimp were in much earlier. I tried to add fire fish in after my triggers were established they were eaten seconds.

I think you are also safe with the shrimp

I had a cleaner shrimp in with a pink tail, Niger and blue jaw and it was fine, neat to actually see them swimming with a shrimp hanging off the side.

Now if they are the crosshatches from RC they are larger then any of my Triggers and may act on it, but Kevin did have a shrimp in with them at the shop.

My male Blue Throat loved to be cleaned by the cleaner shrimp. My female Blue Throat paid no interest in the cleaner shrimp..for cleaning or eating.

No not the same triggers at RC, I've had this one for a little over a year now, was a tiny 2" trigger when I got her, is now double that at 4" but as far as crosshatches go she is still pretty tiny (but man she is all attitude, nothing tiny about her attitude). I call her a "she" but at this size I don't know if she is male or female, I think she has a little while to go before donning adult colours.

Thanks for thoughts so far, please keep 'em coming

well, definitely shrimp before trigger, if your gonna try it......once the trigger gets used to you being the bearer of food, most everything you add is worth a taste....

My pinktail trigger ate my peppermint shrimp and my 3 inch bullseye pistol shrimp and both shrimp were in the tank before it. Never bothered my green clown goby or my tail spot blenny, however those fish were in the tank before the trigger, not sure if he would of bothered them or not if I added them after.

Peppermint shrimps, but what about cleaner shrimps? I think in nature the fishes recognize the cleaner as a usefull shrimp and they don't get eaten. Does the peppermind and pistol get the same favor?
