a friend dosed his tank with magnesium due levels being low
and his ankilinity {sp} rocketed is this due to the Mg???? he was haveing problems already with it being unstable!![/b] |

It's possible that he was measuring "general hardness" rather than "carbonate hardness". The latter is generally unaffected by Mg levels, but the former is definitely affected, since the Mg:Ca ratio in sea water is usually 3:1.
Having a high Mg level helps you maintain a high calcium level, by the way. |
