I currently have a 175 W ballast which came in a black metal case. If I am able to find a 250 W or 400 W ballast that fits the same case, can I just exchange the innards (and of course the bulb)? If I am able to p/u a ballast from HD or Revy etc for $50.00 I will definitely look into it.
I am worried about the extra heat from a higher wattage ballast. Or do I need to replace the socket, wires etc? Thanks All Patrick |

Patrick, you only have to change the ballast.

The capacitor also needs to be changed as well.

The ballasts come with the capacitor.

Yes, but I believe each ballast wattage comes with a different value for the capacitor.

Yes but when you buy a ballast you get a capacitor thus a cap/coil ballast. I can't speak for all ballasts but the three I've bought all came fully equiped.
