|   Willito,just out of curiosity,why didnt you change the ballast instead of buying a new fixture?I'm asking because I'm saving up for new lights and getting a lower watt used fixture and upgrading the ballast is an option I'm concidering.

|   The bulb size is different, hence, a different socket.  FWIW, both are likely rated for the same starting voltage (2kV or something).
