How is the water level in the sump? Sounds like the return pump might be a bit faster than the overflow.
That, or something in the tank is growing really fast!!

Tide came in LMAO that was funny
Well that might just explain it, because now it is going back down to normal its a 55gal tank with a cpr90 on the back (600gph) my return pump is a Quiet One 4000 at 4' (600-650gph)

Are you getting air bubbles collecting in your U-tube? That could cause problems if you're not careful.

Do you have the overflow hooked up to a venturi powerhead or an aqua-lifter pump? Have you looked into getting one of the those aqua-lifter pumps? Here is a link to the MOPS site where they sell them.
http://www.mops.ca/cgi-bin/SoftCart....b7d+1116695876 When I was running the same overflow, I used to keep an eye on the water level, and when the water started to get higher, I just sucked any air out of the overflow that was trapped. |
