Side effects of calcium too high?
Tests from tonight...
mg - 1200 dKH - 7 Calcium - 560 (!!) Everything looks healthy, I want to get it back down, what are your thoughts on the side effects? |

sand can solidify. Check your salinity too, that was the cause of my high Ca levels.

Running Ca that high can also lead to calcification on the impellers of your pumps. (first symptom is that they won't come back on once turned off).
I also agree with the sand clumping. You can also have "snowstorm event" where the Ca literally drops out of solution turning the tank milky. This event isn't as serious as it sounds. The snowstorm is triggered by high Ca combined with high pH. The calcification in the pumps is caused by the localized heat that the pump produces. Anyway...as suggested...water change.

If your using Seachem reef salt thats a very typical reading for Ca
|
