Default New home needed for strange brittle star

Bought some macroalgae for our seahorse tank the other day and quarantined it overnight in our now empty 7 gal bowfront. Good thing I did because there was a strange looking brittle star on one of the MAs, which I removed from the MA but left in the empty 7 gal.

I don't know what kind of star it is, but it isn't something I want in any of our reefs. I guess I'm chicken to put unknown animals into our reefs considering the mithrax crab fiasco a few weeks ago.

Anybody who wants this guy can have him. He's about an inch in diameter with all legs spread out. He has three long legs that branch into two other legs, and has three other very short legs.

I'm going to do a thorough cleaning of the 7 gal today and would like to give him to someone rather than plastic bag him and give him the old rock treatment.

Wish I was closer, Beverly - I'd take him. We've got a tank just for 'strange' creatures and things that we run across.

Here's hoping that someone adopts him and he doesn't get the 'rock'.

Hi Rose,

Someone has asked me to keep the star for him until after next weekend, so star's safe for now. There's nothing in the tank he's in except a few dead snails and him.

Personally, I hate the ROCK and would rather find homes for the strange critters I find that I'm not certain are safe. But it's hard to keep a creature for someone who may or may not show up. The tank its in is one I hope to rebuild into another wonderful little reef. So the sooner the animal is gone, the sooner I can get going on the new reef.
