Was over at a friends house yesterday and these have really taken over, we noticed the odd one about 5 months ago but now they have taken over . We removed a bunch of the rock that these were on as well.

Majano anemones. A very prolific species to boot. Treat them like Aiptasia, but wow that's going to be some work. How big is his tank? A fish that eats them would be ideal if the tank size allows. Raccoon Butterflyfish comes to mind, and I've seen people on RC mention they've had success with Bi-Color Angelfish as well. However, anything that eats Majanos will surely find plenty other things (as in corals) to munch on it that tank by the looks of the photo.

Tank is 180 gallon I doubt he will want to add any butterflyfish as he has a copperband he has had for 5 years and some really high end tangs. We have been using kalkwasser and aiptasia x but he isn't very religious on that. I figured they were a type of anemone never have seen manjos like this before I pictured them different.

I sold Bob a filefish that will destroy those. He got it for a buddies tank that had an aiptasia infestation

I had some true caribean peppermint shrimp take care of mine, and my aiptasia. The majano's never came back, but the aiptasia did in one spot. Might be worth a try.

Those are the prettiest majanos I have ever seen. I'd set up a tank just for them and see if I could trick a clown in to being hosted by the bed of them!
