Bayer Complete Insect Killer
Just want to let anyone know who wants to buy this in Canada that Big Show Frags has it in stock.
This product is the only product I have found that knocks redbugs, black bugs and AEFW off the corals. All other products just aggravate them. As the border is closed smuggling it over just isn't an option anymore. |

Some people don't have access to the border, Amazon will not ship that from the US here and some people might not want to risk smuggling the product back from the US. The price is high likely because they had to apply to Health Canada for a special use pesticide license or they are just taking the risk selling it illegally.

I read on Reef2Reef that a better alternative is Melafix pond formula. It’s also clear so you can see what’s going on. I might switch to this even though I have a huge bottle of Bayer

Melafix is an antibacterial treatment, Not sure how that would work on anthropods and flatworms. I haven't read about it in regards to treating pests but will check into it.
When I had black bug I tried everything from Coral RX, revive, fresh water dips to Hydrogen peroxide and those things just laughed at those treatments, I killed more corals than black bugs. It was only until I used Bayer that I was able to kill black bugs. I wasn't able to get the black bugs out of my tank until I dosed the tank with several double doses of milbemycin oxime. I also found several AEFW on new frags after a Coral RX dip. I have yet to find anything left on my sps corals when I dip with Bayer and I have yet to kill a coral. I fully inspect my new corals with a dissecting microscope before adding the coral to my quarantine tank after treating with Bayer. |

It appears from what I have read that there is some merit to it. I think that in combination with the Bayer would be a great treatment protocol. The antibacterial properties of Melafix may help control any unwanted bacterial infections on corals that we are not even aware of. I have had great success with Bayer removing all active stages of both AEFW and black bug to date. The one major issue with Bayer is as noted that it is not translucent making identification of the casualties challenging. |

Anyone care to sell some of their Bayer insecticide locally? I'm out of Vancouver and will to pay $20 for a 1/3 bottle or so.
