			 Hi Guys,

I just stared a QT tank for a pair of clowns. How often should I change out the water? I was planning to take the water from my 220 dt and use it in the qt. Any thoughts? |

Do you have an established filter on it?

I put a big piece of live rock in it. Unfortunately the filter was not established. Would this be a major problem?

Ya, could be. I think the biggest cause of fish loss in QT is lack of filtration resulting in ammonia spikes. Unless the rock is well established and about 1/2 pound per gallon, it's not going to be enough. Which means lots of water changes. Get a decent NH4 kit and test daily, if/when you see any NH4, do a large water change. I've resorted to keeping a large foam block in my sump in case I need to set up a treatment tank.
