The question?? (2 aqualight Coralife Pro 36")
Can I take the existing double ended 150W HQI and change both the 150 w ballasts to a single 2 x 400 W and run both, without having to change the fixture, that recieves the double ended bulbs????? Thank you for helping in advance. |

where do the ballasts go in the fixture? and why do you want to go 400 watt?

Thanks for the info and question.
The ballast is external, and I hope it doesn't melt but I will look at it again and I will add a second fan. I want the 400 W as my tank will be hard corals, blue and Green and thought the best way to have and grow are with 400W, if I am wrong please advise as it will be appreciated. If I learn something new every day for the rest of my life, I probably would be ready to have a reef tank when I'm 206 yrs. old. Thanks for the info and questions. |

Mark, where can you buy fans from?
I went to radio shack and all they had was computer fans... Is that what you'd wanna use? How would you wire that?? Thanks |

You can use the computer fans. Just check the wattage of the fans you get and space available for mounting. You could also wire a external fan with a transformer. My concern also is with the fixture. You might be better off to build one. BTW the coral life pro 150watt hqi should be equivilent in output to a normal 175watt MH giving you 350 watts. Check http://www.esuweb.com/ coral lifes website.
