Looks like grape caulerpa to me. I think it's bad, but others like it. It can grow out of control and smother corals.

it is really weird because I had never seen it before in my tank, until I installed the prism skimmer. A week later, it started growing.

Probably had spores in the tank and it growing at the time you added a skimmer is just coincidence.

yup also to add to the badness it is 32x more toxic than the next most toxic calurpa, if you harvest try get it out by the roots and don't break the steams if you can help it. this probably won't matter much in a tank that only has a tiny bit but if you have a ton of it you could end up losing a fish or two on a large harvest.

thank you guys for your input. I think I have gotten it all off of the one rock it was on. I know I probably missed a few pieces, but I would have let it grow if I didnt talk to you guys.

Also, one other question. Can anyone post some good algea ID pages, so I can have more knoledge on the area?
