That's a Ring Cowry! I can see the ring underneath the mantle.

Here's a Money Cowry on the left and the Ring Cowry on the right with its mantle covering up its shell.

Here is the Ring Cowry with the mantle off

If you want a few you can have mine, they can sometimes explode in small but bountiful populations

There seems to be some debate on whether Asterina sp. stars are good or bad. I have hundreds of them in my tanks, and they've never bothered anything that I've been able to notice. Others claim that they can do damage to SPS. I personally feel it is a question of what exact species you might have, some do some don't. The ones in my tank seem to go after the algae on my glass (this doesn't bother me AT ALL ) What is clear is that if you have a couple you will eventually have many more, as they divide by fission. Anyways there's the extent of my knowledge of them in a nutshell.

...

The cowries look cool. What do they do (i.e., can they perform a specific function) or do they just look cool? What do they eat?

But I could be wrong...
