Default CaptainYooh's & Pinocchio's 10g Nano-Reef

Hi, everyone! My son and I have been cycling a new 10 g Nano tank for over 4 months now. The CUC has been in for for approximately a month. All water readings are good and the tank is ready for the corals and fish. We've been to Big Al's and Gold's a few times and found the frag prices very expensive. Someone suggested asking for help here at the Calgary chapter of Canreef forum. We would appreciate being able to get/buy some decent inexpensive coral frags and helpful advice from the experienced Calgary nano-reefers. Thank you.

Our equipment:

  • CaribSea Dry Aragonite Fiji Pink Reef Sand 15 lb
  • Aquarium Refractometer
  • Eheim 1212 Aquaball Powerhead 2
  • Instant Ocean Sea Salt Mix - 25gal Box
  • Jager 50 Watt Heater 9 inch
  • 18 inch Current USA Nova Extreme 2x18 watt T5 HO 10K/460nm (one normal, one actinic blue)
Set-Up:

  • 2" sand bed
  • 12 lbs of live rock
  • CUC: 3 turbo-snails; 2 hermit crabs, 1 peppermint shrimp (we also had three nerite snails but they all died within two weeks)
Literature:

  • The Simple Guide To Mini-reef Aquariums
  • The New Encyclopedia of the Saltwater Aquarium
  • The New Marine Aquarium: Step-by-step Setup & Stocking Guide

Geez Doug......you didnt even welcome the newbies to the board......so I will be the first......welcome to canreef......lots of good brains here to pick....as far as the frags go, the best course of action is either to wait patiently, checking the buy sell forum, or you can start a thread "looking for" what ever it is your looking for.........or.......you could pop by Red Coral.......those guys always seem to have inexpensive frags

Thanks, riceboy! Birdsnest and digitate are hard corals and we're told to avoid them in a 10 g nano. We'd gladly take your gsp though. Which part of town do you live in? Maybe, send me a PM with your contact info. Thank you very much!
