Default What does HIT on a MH bulb stand for

Just wondering what that stands for??

High Intensity Tungsten? As in the filament maybe....

MH dont have a filament. If it does have a filament then its not a metal halide but it could be a halogen lamp. Halogens have too much heat and the wrong colour for aquarium use.

Ive heard of HID which stands for High Intensity Discharge. meaning its an arc lamp.
