Default Snorkeling at Akumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico

I cannot recall whom the person on Canreef was that previously mentioned this, but it was such a great place to go..... This person explained where to go in Akumal and it was a great little beach and good snorkeling. If you happen to go to Tulum Mexico area.....Akumal is just a short drive. The place to go is just outside the Akumal dive shop. Swim past the boats and out towards the point (on your left when you hit the water)......the corals, fish and sea turtles were amazing.

By the way, thanks to the guy with the details of where to snorkel as we would not have found this area by ourselves.

Here is a picture that I found. Mental note to buy an underwater digital camera next time I go!!.....this is really the only good picture that came out with good clarity. (I purchased the cheap 35 mm underwater throw away)

Not bad for a crappy disposable 35mm........If I had the digital camera above I could show you some really amazing photos of the fish and corals that we seen. This was just a lucky shot! (so to speak)

Default akumel

just up the strip at the Xcaret park, there is incredible snorkeling. Best I've ever seen. Protected marine park. There's also a zoo and you can float down an underground river in a tube as well.

+1 Xcaret is well worth the entry price. Great snorkling. And be sure to stay for the evening show.
