Default Keeping LR alive while outside the tank

What is the bare minimum to keep live rock alive while outside the tank. Would keeping it in SW heated in a rubbermaid and some flow do the trick or do you need lighting?

thanks

Palmer

Rubbermaid, SW, heater, and flow. To keep your rock alive.

Using a tub, heater, and powerhead is called "cooking" the live rock. The rock will be quite fine in this fashion for "years". After the 4 month mark I would start feeding the rock with a small raw shrimp once every week or two to keep a population of nitrifying bacteria on and in the rock. Lighting is not needed, and I wouldn't suggest it.
