Default SirJamieson's DIY 59G Reef Build

I've been planning for sometime to put together this tank. This is pretty much my first saltwater tank. I had one before that only lasted about 6 months, but had to be taken down when I moved back out of Toronto due to a job change.
Anyways, with a lot of help from my girlfriends family, I've accomplished quite a bit already, so to start this off I should give a status update on where we are right now. I have some pics which I will post later, and some good lessons on how NOT to solder Cree LEDs

Tank:
A LFS was moving so they were selling drilled tanks for pretty cheap, so I picked one up.
  • I was told it was 65g, but it measures lxwxh - 36x18x20, which I think is a little smaller
  • Drilled 3 return holes in back
  • 29g 3 chamber Sump/Fuge
  • We built a very sturdy stand & hood out of 2x4s and some Oak siding

Lights:
Ordered 48 Cree XR-E LEDs from www.reefledlights.com
  • 24 Cool White (bin WCQ5)
  • 24 Royal Blue (bin D316)
  • 2 ELN 60-48 Mean-Well Drivers
  • 24" heat sink
  • Soldering in 2 parallel series in Progress...

Protein Skimmer
  • SWC Xtreme 150 BMK Protein Skimmer

Planned Stocking List
The initial plan was to do a Caribbean themed tank but after doing some searching I decided it was going to be pretty tough to acquire the livestock I was looking for. So a change in plans:
  • 2 True Percula Clowns
  • 2 Bengai Kardinals
  • BT Anemone
  • 2 Diamond Gobies
  • 1 Green Chromis
  • 1 Flame Angel
  • A few corals
  • Fuge:
    • Peppermint Shrimp
    • Chaeto

I'm waiting for my Apex AquaController and base rock to come in and hopefully in the next 2 weeks we'll be starting it up.

Robin: Gosh Batman, the nobility of the almost-human porpoise.
Batman: True, it was noble of that animal to hurl himself into the path of that final torpedo. He gave his life for ours...

"He piled upon the whale’s white hump the sum of all the general rage and hate felt by his whole race from Adam down; and then, as if his chest had been a mortar, he burst his hot heart’s shell upon it."
