Default Do you know?

Does anyone who has ordered in fish know about how long it took (after you got them) for the fish to start eating frozen foods or pellets? I have two new fish that were shipped in two days ago and they both look healthy but neither fish is eating yet.

One is a CBB which I know take awhile to get eating (if ever ) and the other is a flame angel. I do have lots of live mysis and some algae for them to eat (as well as some yummy aptasia for the CBB ) so hopefully they'll be ok for awhile. I'm just wondering what other peoples experiences are with newly shipped in fish. Thanks, Laurie

I find, depending on the fish, it can take a couple of days. Try soaking the food with some garlic to entice them to eat.
Do a search on the cbb, I know a lot of people have had trouble getting them to eat.

I got a CBB just over a month ago. For the first 2-3 weeks all it ate were these little feeder tenticles on these worms in my sandbed and regular fan worms in my liverock. After it nearly wiped all of them out it began eating aptasia starting with the smallest ones. This last week it just started eating frozen mysis.

I had a CBB a few years ago that right away went after aptasia so no two are the same.

I have another CBB in my large tank that ate mysis pretty soon after getting him. I was more so wondering how long newly shipped in fish (from the ocean to a tank) took on average to start eating frozen/pellet foods. Anyone know the average of how many newly shipped in fish survive the first few days/weeks of tank life compared to how many don't?

Have you read From the Ocean to Aquarium - The Global Trade in Marine Ornamental Species? It gives a lot of quantitative data on the survival rates and numbers of imported marine fish and inverts... google search the name or try this link:
