Default 150hqi

Ok, not much response to my Iwasaki questions, so lets try this one. See lots of the 150,s in use and several for sale.

Would the 150 HQI have as much par as the 175,s? I doubt as much as the Iwasaki but I,m still looking for 150 comparison charts.

I have seen the Coralife 10K in action and it looks brighter than my old 250w 14K/regular ballast did.

I knew if I posted I would find some charts. So much for the 150,s. Only half the Iwasaki. The 175 also out performs most 14K single ended, unless overdriven.

If going 250, the SA 10K seems to be the best par for the buck, even when driven with a magnetic ballast.

However I dont think its enough to make sense to run 250 watts instead of 175 watts. I would hazzard a guess the Iwasaki 15K and the SA 10K would be similar in colour ?

Only the possibility of running a different bulb would make the 250 a better buy?

Ok, done talking with myself. Guess I answered, the question.

Think I will go purchase 6 bags of Geo Marine crushed coral and install a proper plenum system in my 90 and just keep my T-5,s.

Thats still the likely direction Tony. I have, however, read more threads where several have switched from them to 250,s and a higher colour temp. to get more blue.

I started out with 150's. Although they were enough to keep things alive, coral growth and vigour was limited to say the least.

I then decided to go for the gusto and get 400's. After buying a dual 400 PFO fixture, I thought about it some more, and decided the 400's were overkill, and bought 2 - 250 Hamiltons. Brought them home, plugged them in, took a look at the tank. Unplugged them and put them in a box.

The 400's are there to stay until something better comes along.
