Default Blue Hippo Tang?

I was at my local fish store and saw a blue hippo tang about the size of quarter. If I get one this small, would it fit in a 46 gallon bowfront tank? I am also wondering about a yellow tang too.

Long term.. no. I purchase my Regal tang when he was quarter sized. In 9 months he is now over 4" long.

tangs need room (ive researched this) they are very territorial and need a 90 gal or bigger as they like to swim fast if you do decide to buy the pair acclimate them at the same time and introduce them both to the tank at the same time when the lights are out this way no territory will be established as of yet. do yourself a favor though and get a way larger tank if tangs is the route you want to go. my tang seems quite happy in a 90 gal.

putting a tang in that size tank is like putting a row boat in a mud puddle!

Regal Tangs don't do well in aquariums IMO. I have one in my 180 and the tank is still too small.

Thanks everyone. I'm not sure if I want to take this risk. If I do I would most likely get a regal tang because you can buy them smaller. I guess I would have to sell it after a few months.

I made the same mistake and tried to sell it after a few months. It was impossible to catch in my aquarium full of rock/corals/etc. Consider that.
