I have a 34 gallon nano that I'll be adding the live rock to in the next couple weeks. Are any particular types more suited to smaller tanks? Are there any types that are just wrong in terms of scale / texture?

Also, wondering if a certain varity would be better for a 15 gallon 8" deep invertebrate tank (smaller, flatter pieces)?

Or is the best thing just to go to the LFS and hand pick pieces?

If you go with pieces that are about 6"-8" in size, you can basically piece them together until you have an aquascape that suits you. I find that, although it tends to be a challenge to find how they "really want to fit together" - it is possible to find the magic mix with just about any kind of rock.

I'd go with rock that offers texture and surface area though. The knobbier the better.
