Default Aloha from Maui, part 2 (image intense)

These are film pictures that I (finally) got scanned in.

With the exception of the one obvious aquarium shot (from the Maui Ocean Centre) they're all from 35mm disposable underwater cameras.

Thanks for the pics, Tony!

The new MHs for our 120g came in yetserday and we're going to be amalgamating our 37g and 67g into the 120g this weekend. Your pics give me some interesting aquascaping ideas

I want to go for a swim now in the reef. How I wish I lived beside a reef.

Hi Sam. Yeah, I know. At least you live near the ocean anyhow, think how nuts you'd go if you were stuck in a prairie city. At least we've still got the Rockies in sight over here in Calgary. When I came home I hit into a pretty serious depression, I got to thinking, what would I rather have, a glass box with a piece of a reef in it, or go see a real reef once per year or so? It honestly works out to about the same. We'll have to see, I don't think I could truly give up everything for the moment but it sure makes me think twice about future reef purchases.

Hi Bevery, yeah it's funny but the same sort of thoughts went through my head as I saw things. "Oh what a great idea for aquascaping, ...."

Hi Richard. Yeah, the corals are not bad but if you've seen the Carribean or better yet, the south Pacific (Australia's GBR, or Fiji, or ...), there's hardly any comparison. Although tropical, and warm to us, the water is technically a little too cool for some very serious SPS formations. Nevertheless it is still very cool to see. And of course the fish #'s are amazing.

Those are great pictures Tony, I swear those cheap little camera's get better almost by the second!

I hear ya on the depression thing, every time I come back from Playa Del Carmen I basically day dream for about two weeks straight. Looks like you had a great time, thanks for sharing a piece of your trip with us.

Yeah, thanks Rich, I'm pretty happy with some of the shots. Of course a lot are just sorta "blue with blue-ish shapes" but I'm happy with what did turn out.

Oh, I have to share a story about that squid. I totally came across him by accident as I was swimming across the beach from the rocks on one side back to where we had our stuff. He was just sitting on the ground, I could sorta see, this fish is a little bit different (I'm super nearsighted, so it was just a blur from about 10 feet up). So I doved down to get a closer look, and then realized, "Oh cool a squid." This guy takes one look at this fugly human diving down at him, and takes off like a shot. The funny part was that he was switching from white, to black, to red, and a whole plethora of other colours. I guess that's the squid way of telling me where to go
