Default A couple of questions for Delphiniums

The heading should get your back up Tony. The questions are as follows, as you appear to be the resident MH specialist. I have been looking at bulb prices at J&L & others. What is a German bulb as opposed to domestic. Can I use one in my pendant? I will probably get some more use out of the current bulb, but should be looking at a new one. Actually the old bulb does not look bad, and the corals seem to look fine. I think I probably want a 10000K bulb. Where do I get the best deal??

Phhhhlllllbbb!!!!!

I'll try to tackle these, but like I told Alan hey don't listen to me I don't know what I'm talking about!

What is a German bulb as opposed to domestic.

Good question and I don't really know the answer. It seems to me that there are a handful of brands out of Germany that are regarded favorably and simply referred to as "German." Then there are bulbs that are supposedly made in Germany but resold in North America under a North American brand name stamped onto the bulb. My 175's are "10,000K German" but they a Hamilton stamp on them.

Can I use one in my pendant?

Yep. 175W is 175W...

Where do I get the best deal??

Well I have to say the bulbs I got from Saltwaterconnection I have been VERY happy with (as with my corals and anemones have grown substancially under these lights over the ones I had previous). Give him a call maybe...

That would of course be SUBSTANTIALLY. :D That out of the way if I understand you correctly. I would have to pay that old bugbear called shipping for one bulb? One cannot just drive to a local store to pick up a bulb? At this point in time a true German 10K bulb is $139.95 at SWconnection, $169.95 at MOPS. I am also doing some mailing to find out about that snail order which appears to be in limbo. Perhaps Sean does not want to talk to me anymore. :(

Okay I understand we have a club now. One of our supposed members was putting together an order, but I became confused on how it was to be handled. It was to come from Aquariumpros. Their bulb cost is $142,00, and could be added to the order perhaps?? As to the snails I am not urgent, but I do get tired of hemming and hawing. :(

Well the delphiniums was just to see if you would spot an obvious error. As to the bulb, it will cost $6.50 for shipping, so I will send him a MO next week, and buy from him.

This coming from someone who evidently mistakes dolphins for a type of flower.

Price out the difference between buying a bulb locally and buying one from Jayson with the $10 or whatever it will cost to put it in the post (maybe not $10 but it will be in that ballpark).... then make your own decision.

Bob:
How come I haven't seen you upbraid Tony for his "sig" line?

"...while repeatedly banging my head against a brick wall..."

Repeatedly banging? Repetitive redundancy?

;) ;) nudge nudge
