Default books to have

So what are the books titles and or web sites most reefers have for
1)starting out
2)fish id's
3)coral id's

my thoughts behind this post is to help others know which are great to have or visit on the net.

About 2 weeks ago I bought The Conscientious Marine Aquarist by Robert M. Fenner.

It has all 3 things that you are looking for in the book. I bought it at a closing sale at Denman Pet Galery for 30 bucks with tax.

A good book (though somewhat general) for ID-ing fish is "Marine Fishes" by Scott W. Michael. A good book for ID-ing inverts is "Marine Invertabrates" by Ronald L. Shimek. A good book for ID-ing corals is "Aquarium Corals-Selection, Husbundry and Natural History" by Eric H. Borneman.

Some invaluable websites are: ReefCentral, Fishbase.org, reefs.org, nano-reef.com, aquaiumpros.ca, canreef.com, and aquariacanada.com. WetWebMedia is also very very good though somewhat harder to navigate.

Here's an interesting book. Might not be what you are looking for. But once you know all the technical aspects of reef keeping, the next aspect is aesthetics.

"The Most Beautiful Aquariums of the World"

http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2005/5/media

http://www.svein.no/author/author_interiorbook.htm

http://www.tectum.be/uk/fr_loft.htm

The books that I have in my collection are:

Aquarium Corals - Eric H. Borneman
Reef Invertebtrates - Anthony Calfo & Robert Fenner
