Default Any idea what these critters are?

Found them in my QT. They run around the surface with their tails hanging down. When I put them in a dish, they try to leave the water - wanting to swim up.
They have a forked tail and 2 black eyes, and are banded grey and black.

They appear to have 8 legs. They can crawl on the stick I used to look at them under a jewellers glass.
