Default Drilling Tanks: Back Glass vs Bottom Glass

I was just wondering why most stores drill their tanks on the bottom with stand pipes as opposed to the back of the tanks?

I personally like the look of the back glass drilled out as opposed to the stand pipe.

What are the pros & cons of either?

Cheers,
Vic [Veng68]

drilling the bottom alows you to put the tank closer to the wall and it keeps all th eplumbing out of sight. Functionally it doesn't make a difference though.

Some tanks have tempered bottoms so don't try drilling them you will shatter it. Most often that leaves you with drilling the side, if it's DIY.
