Default Y this happen to my carbon?

So I recently got a reactor n put rowaphos at buttom and carbon in between two sponges and my carbon just turned into lava rock color few days ago. N yes they been flush clear before putting in tank. Here's a ****ty pic but u can see it in my sump just above the water line

Could be the gfo discolouring it, try running it with the carbon before the gfo

Hey! I never "LEFT" the hobby, just doing fresh water now. Which is still listed as part of Canreef if I'm not mistaken.

Would the gfo still tumble properly if I put it above the carbon n is this carbon garbage now

This why it's better to use a separate reactor because it's hard to control your gfo's tumble when both are in the same reactor, is your carbon garbage ya I would put in new. Good luck.
