Default mushroom behaviour

hey,
i just got a green striped mushroom and it loves life during the day, stretching out and making itself as big as possible, but at night he shrivels up to the size of a quarter and fades. Is this normal for a mushroom? is there something changing in my tank other than light that might cause this?

i have a mushroom the same or very close to what you described and during the day they are 2 or 3 inches across and at night like you said they are the size of a quarter. i believe it is just how they react at night the same as gsp hides in its purple mat etc.
