Default Help! - NO Algae, trochus snails falling over

Hi, as the title says, I'm having a heck of a time trying to grow algae in order to feed my clean up crew. Astraea snails seem fine, trochus snails keep falling over and I've gotta rescue them on the regular. Crabs are all good.

All and all, I have 3 red scarlets, maybe 5 blue legged crabs, 8? trochus, 3 astrea, 1 turbo

2 clowns
1 rabbitfish
1 6 line rasse
1 yellow goby

Feeding based on what they had been eating in 45 seconds.

Then started feeding twice a day... frozen and pellets

Then 2 frozen cubes and 1 pellet feed per day.

Tank size is 150 with a 40 gallon sump with chaeto refugium. Trimmed the chaeto WAAAAY back 3 weeks ago to just 2 handfulls.

Tap water treated with prime, in Surrey, tds meter reads .012

Test weekly for the usual. 0 0 0
Salinity is 34 ppm
Alk I'm working on bringing up to 9 from 8 (very slowly)

I've removed my filter socks
I've turned off my skimmer for the past 4 weeks

Normal water changes

Corals are doing great for what I expect, mixed reef mostly of frag sizes.

Have held back on getting more of a bio load at this time because I don't have a fish quarantine tank and don't want to risk the dudes that I've got!

Any suggestions?
