Default How to add DSB back to sump

Hey guys so my sump cracked and I had to empty it and take out the DSB. I want to put it back to the new sump but how should I do it?

Are you starting with new sand. I would shut it down add sand let it settle for the day and fire it up.

Old sand I would isolate the sump and run it alone circulating it back to itself then you can sort out any stirred up nutrients detritus and h2s that may have accumulated.

Do you really feel it was doing anything? Might be a good time to ditch it all together.

Yeah I was thinking of probably ditching it and adding more live rock...

I have a huge bio-load (breeding fish) high nitrates

Sucks my sump cracked but it also gave me opportunity to make it better.

Any suggestions?

Roughly 200g total water volume. I have a vertex250 skimmer and around 50lbs live rock, and lots of chaeto.

If I were you I would do a remote sand bed. Rinse your existing sand in RO/DI water and do a remote sand bed
