Just a general question..... Is this tank worth picking up for $500.-- ish

Its a pretty skookum looking tank IMO. One of my friends in Campbell River has one and its a damned nice looking tank. Sounds like it has all the bells and whistles. I don't know what they go for new though.

kk ya i checked the net and they sell new for 849.--

The one im looking at has been used for about 8-10 months. they left it with lots of algea and salt creap. But all and all it has protien skimmer heater and lights built in !!!! How can you complain

I really like mine as my peacock mantis setup. The lights will be good enough for softies and LPS, but not SPS or light loving clams. Also, you will want to add another powerhead for more flow, and the protein skimmer it comes with isn't very good. All in all though, I am very happy with the setup and its nice appearance. For $500, it's a good deal. I don't think I would have paid full price for a new one.
The other thing is you can set up a sump fairly easily as well, if you wanted to.
